Akins blazes to 3 of 5 Girls Meet Records @ 61st Summa Inv

Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps

Liberty North won the girls' 4x200 in 1:46.49 after Rock Bridge crossed the finish first but was disqualified for an out-of-the-exchange zone baton pass. Winnetonka was second in 1:47.84.

Incarnate Word and Chavi Flowers earned a first-place 4x100 finish they could celebrate on the way back to St. Louis. The Red Knights finished in 49.02 seconds while Park Hill and North Platte were 2nd and 3rd.

The North Platte Lady Panthers, the defending Class 2 state champions who racked up 71 points by dominating the sprints and relays at state last year, captured the final ladies' event of the day at Chrisman. Defending Class 2 100 and 200-meter state champion Olivia Rogers anchored the Panthers to victory in the 4x400, passing Rock Bridge with a blazing homestretch finish. Rogers took the Panthers from 3rd to first with a 59.41 split. North Platte finished in 4:08.94 while the Bruins finished in 4:09.30.

Rock Bridge senior Grace Parsons won the 300-meter hurdles by a 1.65-second margin in 44.96. Parsons also placed 4th in the 100-hurdles (15.86) and was on the 2nd-place 4x400 squad and the 4x200 team that won before being dq'd.

Grandview sophomore Jordin McGee won two events for the Bulldogs. McGee claimed the 100 hurdles in 15.34 seconds and the long jump by nearly a foot and a half with a best of 5.43m/17-09.75''. She also ran a leg of the 5th-place 4x100.

A week after taking 4th (4.20m/13-9.25'') in one of the best high school girls' pole vault competitions ever at the Texas Relays, Liberty senior Rachel Homoly had a long wait to compete at Chrisman. Last year she vaulted with the boys at the Summa meet, beating all but two of them. This year, she jumped with the girls and didn't start until the meet was nearing its end.

On the elevated runway that was set up on the infield in a fashion to get a tailwind and not a headwind based on wind direction projections, Homoly passed on the first eight heights. Then, with all other competitors out, she had the bar raised to 3.81m/12-6''. Homoly, who has a personal record (PR) and the state record of 4.27m/14-0'' and has signed with Arkansas, cleared 12-6'' on her first attempt before going out at the next height of 4-meters/13-1.5''. Battle High School's Anna Ferguson was 2nd at 3.25m/10-8''.

Park Hill's Brooke Boehm won the high jump by one bar, clearing 1.60m/5-3''. Rock Bridge senior Sunday Crane won the triple jump in 11.19m/36-08.5'', for an 8.25'' win. It added to her day that included a 4th-place 100 (12.81) and 2nd-place 4x400 squad and the 4x200 that initially won.
