The Scoop: Big Commitments, A Major Debut, And One Dominating Stretch

3. It's Gametime For Great Teams Who Are Stepping Up

We're nearing a critical turn in the season for most programs, as the postseason is either coming into full focus or is very close in the next weeks.

It's no surprise we've begun to see programs truly start to show their true colors. From this past weekend, the Great Oak (California) High boys continued to dominate after their impressive win at Roy Griak in Minnesota, negotiating another big win at the Clovis Invitational over Dublin and Dana Hills -- two teams who were hoping to push the Wolfpack off the lead pace.

Let's not forget, either, about the nation's No. 1 team, Loudoun Valley, which won at Great American in North Carolina and is eyeing up a state championship and potential NXN bid for the program. Or North Carolina's Green Hope, which continues to show why they could earn a national bid to NXN with their second-place performance in the same meet.

In Utah, an endless battle between two of the state's best Class 3A teams, Timpanogos and Springville, continued to spiral back and forth, with Springville earning the Region 8 championships in Orem. The program, which finished third at state last year, has the inside route to a championship this season.

But that wasn't all.

Naperville North (Illinois) High's girls continue their dominant season, winning the Naperville Twilight over their rival, Yorkville, just a few weeks following a national-caliber win at Roy Griak.
