Air Force's Indoor Extravaganza

As high school indoor meets in Colorado go, they don't get any bigger than this one.

If you understand high school track and field on a national basis, you will understand the meaning of this: The Chandler (Arizona) girls are coming.

High school girls track and field doesn't get any better than this. Jasmine Todd and Ky Westbrook know the underside of 12-flat in the 100 meters very well. Jasmine Todd kicks up sand in the long jump pit out beyond 19 and beyond 41 in the triple jump pit. Ky Westbrook owns a PR 200 of 24.60. Sherrelle Jordan is a 14.14 100 hurdler. You get the picture; this is an outstanding track and field team, especially in the sprints, hurdles, and jumps.

But Colorado will be answering with some weaponry of our own. Christine Scott and Sierra Williams are entered in the sprint events. Dior Hall is on the start list for the 60 meter hurdles. Courtney Mills breaks up the three seeds from Chandler in the triple jump.

Elsewhere, some of the matchups worth paying attention to include Lauren Brunsdale, Lauren Santi, and Addy Neibauer in the pole vault, Autumn Gardner and Carly Paul in the high jump, Ana Holland and Kelsey Traxinger in the 400, and many more. Longer distance events are a little on the low count of entries, but that is more or less to be expected at this time of year.

For the boys, the top-seeded heat of Harrison Einsphar, Kordell Deffebaugh, Enyinna Isiguzo, Jaylyn Mars, Marcus Harris, and Charles Rappe' in the 200 looks very intriguing.

A mile field that includes Bryce Gregoire, Cerake Geberkidane, Chuck Bisbee, Evan Fortney, Connor Timms, and Danny Vavrik promises to be fun to watch. Gregoire may be a marked man in this one after his performance last Saturday in Boulder. Somehow, Gus Waneka appears not to have the top seed in the two mile, but he probably deserves it. A couple of laps should shake things out in the lead pack, though.

Josh Holland and Steven Wacker provide us with an early look at two of Colorado's top pole vault entries for 2012. The combo pack of Stephen Palmier, Scott Carter, and Tony Carodine promises to thrill in the triple jump. Colten Deters, Dylan Brant, Chico Feltenberger, Grayson Bundick, and Ty Van Oort should make for an entertaining shot put competition.

Field event action starts at 10 AM, with track events getting underway at 10:30. Action continues unabated until almost 4:30 in the afternoon. All spectators should enter the Academy grounds through the North Gate and be prepared to pass through security. All spectators and participants should plan to park in the lot east of Clune Field House. Entry is through the east door to the facility. Admission is free.

Colorado Track XC will be on-site with coverage. Look for a full article, results, and photos following completion of the meet. Note that coverage and photo album will be subscription content. This meet preview has been moved to free content to accommodate those in the track and field community who are still becoming aware that some of the content on this site has become subscription-based since the last track season.
