The Papillion-La Vista South girls used pack running strategy with their top five scorers taking places 8th through 12th individually in an 11 second spread to claim the Nebraska Class A state team title with 45 points and a 61 margin of victory over runner-up Millard West (106 pts).
Norfolk senior Melissa Parks won the Class A girls individual title in 14:52 at the 4K course in Kearney, but the fastest time of the day belong to Class B state champion Aubree Worden of Scottsbluff in a 14:22 performance. Worden's performances breaks the state meet record previously set by Emily Sisson in 2007 at 14:25. Worden who broke 5 minutes in the mile last spring at the Arcadia Invitational, earlier this season set the Nebraska-Kearney 4K course record with a 14:20 run at the Nebraska-Kearney Invitational.
The Fremont boys put 4 in the top 15 in the Class A race to win the team title with 43 points, while Kearney junior duo of Jacob Olson (16:04) and Nolan Zimmer (16:05) went 1-2 on their hometown course in the Class A race for the fastest times of the day.
