In one of the tightest races we've seen this outdoor season, Carter Cheeseman scored a big win at the finish to grab National Performer honors this past week.

The Fort Worth Christian (TX) senior, coming off his 31st-place outing at the IAAF U20 Cross Country Championships in Denmark, won the recognition with over 38-percent of the vote, nudging past Houston Strake Jesuit's Matthew Boling by just a few votes.

Cheeseman, a Notre Dame recruit, finished the extremely difficult 8K course in 26:25 and now will focus on the rest of the outdoor track and field season.

A big congrats goes out to The Cheese on the honor.

Now, let's move on to this week's vote, which will cover the week of April 1-7.

Below, we have eight more boys nominees for this week's top honor. Vote in the poll below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Check back Friday to find out the winner. NoteOur indoor and outdoor season winners can be found below the poll. National outdoor rankings can also be found there.
