Santa Fe Pole Vaulter Shot And Gets Visit From JJ Watt

Last week, the tragedy at Sante Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas rocked the nation as well as the small southeast Texas community.

A 17 year old student from the school allegedly entered the school with two fire arms shooting and killing 10 and injuring 13 more.

Amongst the injured is junior pole vaulter Clayton Horn. Horn suffered serious injuries including one from a shot gun blast. At least two gun shot wounds have kept Horn hospitalized for the past seven days. His injuries include a blast to his arm and two gun shot injuries to his lower extremities.

An inside and informed entity described the wounds as his arm was blown a part. Horn has already endured multiple surgeries to treat his injuries.

Horn has been a pole vaulter at Santa Fe since his freshman year as well as a part of the Bay Area Pole Vault Academy in Dickinson, Texas.

The entire nation has rallied around the Santa Fe community to support and comfort the school and the community.

Houston Texans All-Pro defensive lineman J.J. Watt also pledged to contribute. Watt who helped raise 37 million dollars for Hurricane Harvey relief and personally provided oversight and delivery of aid has also contributed to the tragic Santa Fe situation. Watt, who is becoming more and more known for his philanthropy offered to pay for the funerals of the 10 fatalities.

A tweet generated by Horn's girlfriend got the attention of Watt and in between surgeries and when feeling better, Horn received a personal hospital visit from Watt in his hospital room. The tweet asking for followers to retweet in an attempt to catch the attention of Watt with hopes for the visit worked.

While the shock of the shooting still lingers in the hearts and minds of the community, life must continue for the survivors. Teachers and staff returned to the school on Wednesday and students return next Tuesday.

There is no questions that Horn has gone through a tumultuous situation. He has serious physical injuries and who knows what other barriers to get over until he is back vaulting. However, he is in good spirits and he can't wait to get back on the runway.
