Cha'iel Johnson Drops 12-Year-Old Nation-Leading 400m At USATF Region 4

This week will be a busy one for Miami Gardens Xpress Track Club athlete Cha'iel Johnson, who is slated to run in the 800m and 1500m at the AAU Club Championships at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.

Johnson, the daughter of famed NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson, is arguably the most versatile athlete in her class and is currently ranked No. 1 for 12-year-olds in the 800m (2:16.35), No. 15 in the 200m (26.45) and, before the weekend, was No. 2 in the 400m (58.16).

In time, she could also drop a big time in the 1500m.

But in the meantime, she added another nation-leading mark at the USATF Region 4 Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships in Jacksonville over the weekend, producing a nation-leading No. 1 mark for 12-year-olds in the 400m with a 56.48 second effort.

The country's best for 12-year-old girls in the 1500m stands at 4:56.99 currently.

Time will only tell whether Johnson will clip off another accolade to her growing track resume.
