Cameron Cooper Sets New US No. 1 In USA Jr. Championship Win in 800m

Louisiana State University signee Cameron Cooper rocked the men's 800m at the USA Junior Championships on Saturday in Sacramento, setting a new US No. 1 in a time of 1:47.59.

Cooper, along with Clemson's Terrell Jackson, secured automatic bids to the Pan American Championships in Peru on July 21-23.

It marked Cooper's fastest performance in the 800m of his career and follows a runner-up finish at New Balance Nationals Outdoor last week in 1:51.33 -- though Cooper did lead his Motor City Track Club to a meet record in the SMR, splitting 1:47.79.
